VELLORE: D S Nanaware, ED (SRPL) inaugurated a printing and binding works for Divyangjan established under IndianOil’s CSR activities at Ranipet of Vellore district, Tamilnadu on October 25, 2019.
“IndianOil’s Southern Region Pipelines which is laying a gas pipeline in the area has always been contributing to the welfare of people of its surrounding. Supporting to enable Divyangjan to earn their livelihood on their own is a small gesture of IndianOil,” said Nanaware addressing on the occasion.
S Thangaraj, CGM (Constructions) highlighted the benefits of upcoming natural gas pipeline and also informed the villagers how IndianOil’s pipelines are beneficial during natural calamities as well as reducing traffic congestion as well as protecting the environment. Senior officials from SRPL, Chennai and State Government present on the occasion.
IndianOil has established the printing works with equipment like printing press, paper cutting machine, binding machine and scoring machine at a cost of Rs. 6.30 lakh at Narasingapuram panchayat in Ranipet of Vellore district in Tamil Nadu.
A Self Help Group of 13 differently-abled persons or Divyangjan will be benefitted with the facilities, named as Dr Abdul Kalam Differently-abled Printing Works established with the support of Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM).
The beneficiaries are having locomotive disabilities and one person is visually challenged. TNSRLM trained the beneficiaries of Self Help Group in printing and binding skills. TNSRLM allotted a government building for establishing the production unit in which the equipment were provided. The beneficiaries were residents of villages nearby to Right-of-Way of IndianOil’s new natural gas pipeline project.
IndianOil has also facilitated raw materials for initial order and engaged in handholding the beneficiaries for first three months to support marketing of their products and to enhance self-confidence amongst them leading to social inclusion.
The CSR initiative will provide sustainable livelihood to Divyangjan, thereby improving their quality of life. The State government has already placed orders to the establishment for supply of stationery items for six months. IndianOil is also planning to place order for writing pads, envelope from the establishment, to enable its sustainability.
