BANGALORE: India CSR, world’s popular CSR Newswire, has awarded Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee with Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to CSR space at India CSR Award gala night held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Bengaluru in the presence of more than 100 CSR leaders.
Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee is DG & CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), a think tank, research and capacity building Institution for Corporate excellence under Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.

While receiving the honour Dr. Chatterjee said, “I am happy to accept the lifetime achievement award. My humble thanks to India CSR. Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee is a brilliant academician, able administrator and a CSR thought leader of contemporary India. Dr.Chatterjee was instrumental in framing CSR guidelines and accredited with his pivotal role in the inclusion of Section 135, the Companies Act of 2013. A thought leader, in providing critical, innovative and strategic vision and primary force in bringing paradigm shift to the realm of CSR practice in India.
Dr. Chatterjee is a visionary, thought leader and an acclaimed management practitioner. His lectures and writings on various development themes, be it, social responsibility, social and sustainable development, or human resource development are highly commendable. It is even more apt to call him as an encyclopaedia of Corporate Social Responsibility in India.
Dr. Chatterjee has taken the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (NFCSR) to unheralded heights. His role in building them as knowledge resource centres and powerhouses on theoretical and practical aspects of CSR is highly appreciated.
The lifetime achievement award is an acknowledgement of Dr. Chatterjee’s contributions to the areas of corporate responsibility, social and sustainable development, and human resources. Dr. Chatterjee joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1975 and has held many distinguished positions. In 2008-09, he was Principal Adviser in the Planning Commission. Here he was deeply involved with a number of micro and macro-economic measures. He was also a part of the team responsible for shaping India’s response to the global economic crisis of 2009. In 1990, Dr. Chatterjee authored his first book – a path breaking work entitled “Japanese Management – Maruti and the Indian Experience”. Thereafter, in 2009, he wrote his now famous “Human Resource Management – A Contemporary Text” which has gone into its fourth revised and enlarged edition. His widely acclaimed book, “Leadership India – Leading Change, Changing Lives”, was released at the World HRD Congress in February, 2011.
Dr. Chatterjee has most recently authored his latest Book entitled “Sustainable Futures – Imperatives For Managing The Social Agenda”. In this book, Dr. Chatterjee shows how governments, corporates and civil society organizations can synergize their efforts to build a whole new paradigm of development that is sustainable, humanistic and inclusive
