Drishti aims to improve ophthalmological health of peripheral community and economically underprivileged people treated free of cost
New Delhi: Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has been recognized for its innovative CSR initiative, “Drishti,” at the 11th CSR Leadership Awards in New Delhi. The initiative, which aims to improve ophthalmological health in the community, includes the Advanced Eye Care on Wheels program in partnership with LV Prasad Eye Institute.
The company was honored at the India Leadership Summit by Chief Guest Shri R.K. Sinha, Honorable Former Rajya Sabha Member and Founder & CMD of Security & Intelligence Services (India) Limited (SIS), in the presence of Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Additional Chief Secretary to Govt., Planning, Program Monitoring & Statistics Dept., Govt. of Karnataka, and Rusen Kumar, Founder and Managing Editor of India CSR.
During a recent event, the Chief Guest praised the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work being carried out by the OMC.
This mobile diagnostic vehicle provides comprehensive eye care to more than 12,000 people annually in four districts of Odisha. OMC has also established a Vision plus Eye Centre in Serenda, Barbil, which provides quality eye care to the Barbil region and surrounding villages. Through these efforts, OMC’s Drishti initiative is expected to impact 148 million people in seven districts of Odisha.
Advanced Eye Care on Wheel
The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has been recognized for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative called “Drishti”, which aims to improve the ophthalmological health of the peripheral community. As part of this project, OMC has partnered with the LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) to provide comprehensive eye healthcare services to the mining community across the state of Odisha.
This includes the “Advanced Eye Care on Wheels”, a diagnostic mobile vehicle with advanced equipment that visits all district-based secondary eye care centers of LVPEI every month, along with specialists. It covers the districts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, and Ganjam, and impacts more than 12,000 people annually. Economically underprivileged people are treated free of cost under this initiative.
Aiming to impact 148 million people in seven districts of Odisha
In addition to the “Advanced Eye Care on Wheels”, OMC has also established the “Vision plus Eye Centre” at Serenda, Barbil, which provides quality eye care services to the people of Barbil and surrounding villages. Approximately 70% of eye care services are delivered through this center, including comprehensive eye care, state-of-the-art diagnostics, teleophthalmology, and affordable spectacles. It is estimated that “Drishti” will impact 148 million people in seven districts of Odisha.
