Hindustan Zinc Puts 62% Youth at the Core of Energy Transition
Share Share Share Share

UDAIPUR (India CSR): On International Youth Day, Hindustan – the world’s largest integrated Zinc producer and among the top five silver producers globally, proudly celebrates the spirit, ambition and innovation of its young workforce. With 62% of its employees under the age of 35, Hindustan Zinc is breaking stereotypes in the traditionally conservative metals & mining industry, demonstrating that the future of metals lies in technology, sustainability, and visionary young talent. These young professionals are not just future leaders, they are the changemakers of today, shaping perspectives, driving transformation, and echoing the future of the industry.

To commemorate the day, Hindustan Zinc launches a campaign ‘Echoes of Tomorrow’ that celebrates the passion, ingenuity, and impact of its young professionals.

The campaign will showcase how this vibrant workforce is driving innovation, championing sustainability and transforming mining into a tech-first, future-ready sector. Young professionals at Hindustan Zinc are leading transformation across engineering excellence, environmental stewardship, digitalization, and automation. From deploying AI-powered mineral exploration models to implementing sustainability innovations, they are at the forefront of making mining safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

“At Hindustan Zinc, our strength lies in being young at heart and agile in action – powered by a workforce that blends fresh thinking with a shared sense of purpose. We bring together the stability and scale of a global leader with the adaptability and speed of a new-age enterprise. Our commitment to continuous learning ensures that every employee is equipped to innovate, lead and thrive in a rapidly evolving world. This International Youth Day, we celebrate our people not just as contributors, but as catalysts driving transformation, advancing technology and shaping a sustainable future for the nation and the planet.” said CEO Arun Misra, CEO, Hindustan Zinc

Hindustan Zinc’s people-first philosophy is reflected in its industry-leading workplace policies and investments in continuous capability building. In FY24 alone, the company recorded over 1.2 lakh hours of learning and development, equipping employees with future-ready skills. Women now comprise 25% of the workforce, with a goal to reach 30% by 2030 supported by structured mentoring, leadership development, and inclusive hiring initiatives.

The company offers the best of both worlds – the stability of a global conglomerate and the agility of a start-up, guided by its ‘Growth from Within’ philosophy, the company provides structured internal job postings, well-defined leadership development pathways through the V-Build initiative, and the opportunity to participate in employee stock option plans (ESOPs).Progressive workplace policies, such as the spouse hiring policy, physical & mental health leaves, year-long sabbaticals for childcare, flexible working hours, and monthly no-questions-asked leaves for women, further enhance opportunities, ensuring that gender is never a barrier to career advancement.

By putting its young professionals at the forefront of technology, sustainability, and community impact, Hindustan Zinc is not only shaping the future of mining but also redefining what it means to be a modern, people-first organisation. This International Youth Day marks another milestone in that journey one where the company’s vision, values, and people come together to create a legacy of progress for generations to come.
