UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, is setting new benchmarks in science and technology education through its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Lab initiative across government schools. In collaboration with the Society for All Round Development (SARD), the company is rolling out immersive, technology-enabled learning spaces that are reshaping the way students engage with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
33 senior education dignitaries from 25 districts such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Rajsamand, and Banswara, including District Education Officers (DEOs) and Principals of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), visited Hindustan Zinc’s newly developed STEM Lab sites in Bichchadi and Debari near Udaipur district in Rajasthan. This high-profile visit offered a first-hand experience of the futuristic learning standards being introduced by Hindustan Zinc and reaffirming its role as a frontrunner in educational transformation in Rajasthan.

Speaking during the visit, Mridula Vyas – Principal, DIET (Mount Abu, Sirohi) said, “It was a great experience. It has given us an insight into what science can be and how it can be made interesting without becoming a burden. Also, there is so much equipment here. It feels like we are visiting a fairyland.” Dr. Arun Sharma, Professor 1, RSCERT (Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training), added, “Inside these walls, the whole world fits in. We can tour anywhere virtually, learn, and grow. I would like to thank Hindustan Zinc for this initiative and planning this immersive visit.”
Hindustan Zinc has established four immersive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Labs aimed at transforming government school education through experiential and tech-enabled learning. These include three model labs in Udaipur — at Government Senior Secondary School, Bichhadi, Dabok, and Zinc Smelter Senior Secondary Schools — as well as an Integrated Science Lab at Government Girls Inter College, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. Each lab is equipped with advanced digital tools, refurbished infrastructure, and immersive technologies like Artificial & Virtual Reality (AR/VR), designed to make science education engaging, accessible, and future-ready.
These STEM Labs have been designed as immersive innovation hubs that combine modern infrastructure with cutting-edge educational technology:
Refurbished classrooms with upgraded lighting, furniture, and interactive murals using BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) concepts.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled Interactive Flat Panels with access to more than 5,000 digital learning modules across science and math subjects.

Augmented & Virtual Reality content delivery using advanced VR headsets and AR simulations to simplify complex concepts.
Thematic corners, talking walls, and hands-on micro-models that make learning visually engaging and relatable.
The initiative goes beyond setting up state-of-the-art labs; it also focuses on strengthening the holistic ecosystem around them. Teachers receive training in immersive, hands-on methodologies, equipping them to make science more engaging and accessible. For students, the experience extends outside the classroom, with workshops, science fairs, and hackathons offering opportunities to explore, experiment, and apply their learning.
Through various social interventions and community development initiatives, Hindustan Zinc continues to advance its vision of holistic community development, nurturing education, building skills, enabling sustainable livelihoods, empowering women, strengthening healthcare, and preserving the environment. With a footprint that spans over 2,300 villages, Hindustan Zinc is positively transforming the lives of more than 23 lakh people and remains deeply committed to fostering inclusive growth and long-term social impact.
