This year, in concert with the Maharashtra Government’s focus on augmenting green cover, Hinduja Foundation, in an ambitious program has increased its tree planting program. For the initiative, we will be planting close to one lakh saplings in the five villages of Jawhar taluka adopted by us”.

He further added, “With global changes and human factors altering the course of the earth’s long-term sustainability, it is only pertinent that we focus on finding ways to counteract these effects.”

The pilot drive begins on July 1 and will be spread over a month. The activity commences in Tilonda – Bhamberpada followed by Pimpalshet, Kharonda, Ozer and Chambharshet respectively. Hinduja Foundation will plant the saplings of teakwood, glycridia, mangium, sababul, mango and cashew trees across these five villages adopted by them. As a part of the program, the Foundation will be providing saplings, fertilizers and organizing digging pits.

These CSR activities of the Foundation are in synergy with Maharashtra Government agencies (Addl. Collector, BDO) and gram panchayats to enhance effectiveness of their delivery. A PPP Agreement is also in place between the Hinduja Foundation and the Additional Collector, Jawhar to ensure its smooth functioning. Some of the activities that are a part of the project include programs for women empowerment, water management, and sanitary provisions to households.
