Help India Learn Expands Reach to over 120 Schools with over 50 Volunteer Teachers on-Board

NEW DELHI: Help India Learn is also working towards creating low-cost technology to accelerate learning for young students in the age group of 8-10 years by developing smartphone-based Mathematics video tutorials in Hindi to make learning easy, fun and interactive as well as to conduct primary research to study effectiveness of smartphone-based lessons over traditional teacher-led classes. The videos will be soon available on YouTube.

According to Aariz Faisal, Founder, Help India Learn, “The dismal state of elementary education in our country motivated me to start Help India Learn with the support of my school, The Shriram School and a network of family and friends.. According to the District Information System of Education (DISE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, of the total 12.6 lakh schools in India, including those with primary, senior secondary and higher secondary sections, 28.68% have only two teachers, 8.84% have only one and 0.91% (11,249) have no teacher at all. In such a situation, volunteering is the need of the hour. Personally, I feel that it has been a learning for me also as the underprivileged children whom I’ve been teaching for over 3 years now have taught me the value of basic things like having a notebook, stationary, a good school bag and educational support of parents which we normally take for granted.”

In the near future, Help India Learn hopes to develop more interactive learning technologies for underprivileged children and expand its network to reach out more than 300 volunteer teachers by the end of the year.

Help India Learn, an online platform committed to bringing elementary education to all children regardless of their background and financial standing by connecting volunteer teachers with Non Profit Schools has expanded its reach to over 120 schools with over 50 volunteer teachers on-board. More than 10 schools have also received donated school supplies through Help India Learn, a unique social initiative conceptualized and developed by Aariz Faisal, a 17 year old, grade 12th student at The Shri Ram School, Aravali Gurgaon who himself started volunteering as a Maths teacher for underprivileged children when he was just 13 years old.
