SINGAPORE/NOIDA (India CSR): HCLTech, a global technology leader, announced a new AI/Cloud Native Lab in Singapore, developed in collaboration with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). Scheduled to open in 2025, the lab will be HCLTech’s fifth worldwide, joining existing labs in the US, UK, Germany, and India, and will serve as a regional hub for AI-driven innovation.
Supporting Regional AI Initiatives
HCLTech’s Singapore lab aims to support regional businesses by accelerating their AI adoption through HCLTech’s suite of AI solutions, such as AI Force and AI Foundry. The lab will help companies design AI blueprints, improve efficiencies through Generative AI (GenAI), and enhance competitive advantages. To foster talent development, the lab will partner with Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic, providing skill-building opportunities for both young and mid-career professionals.
“We are excited to establish this facility in Singapore, a city that’s fast becoming a key player in AI,” said Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCLTech, during an announcement event attended by officials from Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information, as well as senior representatives from EDB. “This lab will be a collaborative space for companies to explore and develop AI-driven solutions.”
Advancing Singapore’s AI Vision
The new lab aligns with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0, launched in 2023, which aims to position the nation as a global leader in AI. The strategy emphasizes creating a responsible and trustworthy AI ecosystem, enabling industries like finance, manufacturing, and SMEs to leverage AI for growth. Philbert Gomez, Executive Director at Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), praised the lab’s potential impact, stating, “HCLTech’s AI Lab offers Singaporean businesses the resources to experiment with and scale AI solutions, helping drive economic progress through technology.”
Four Decades of HCLTech in Singapore
With a presence in Singapore for over 40 years, HCLTech has established deep partnerships across sectors, including launching Asia’s first Wi-Fi-based patient tracking system and supporting government digital transformation efforts. Singapore is also HCLTech’s Southeast Asia headquarters, highlighting the company’s sustained commitment to the region.
Strengthening Singapore’s Role as an AI Hub
“Our labs are an ideal starting point for businesses embarking on AI journeys to unlock new efficiencies and capabilities,” said Vijay Guntur, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems at HCLTech. “Adding Singapore to our network will further cement its position as a leading hub for AI innovation in Asia.” This partnership demonstrates Singapore’s growing importance as a center for advanced AI solutions, poised to help enterprises realize new business value.
