LUCKNOW: HCL Foundation, under their Urban CSR Program ‘HCL Uday’, announced the launch of Discovery Science Centre in Lucknow on Thursday (20 Jun). The centre was launched by Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh.
The Discovery Science Centre is a space for students to creatively learn, experience and understand various scientific concepts through experiential learning method.
The centre which has 2 rooms each of size 30 ft by 21 ft have been used to set up the science centre and contains around 80 science exhibits.
The centre has LCD screen and projector facility and also contains Poster Exhibits on Science. It can house 60-70 students, and will cater to students from 25 schools of Lucknow
Nidhi Pundhir, Director, HCL Foundation said, “Aligned to the Sustainable Development Goal 4, HCL Foundation’s education initiatives, under its urban flagship program – UDAY, seek to promote access to quality education by reforming learning spaces through innovative techniques”.
“The Discovery Science Centre provides a space where children are encouraged to explore, discover, nurture their curiosity and ask questions related to science, nature, mathematics and environment”, she added.
HCL Foundation has successfully set up and demonstrated a similar model in Nagpur earlier and is now extending the same model in Lucknow.
HCL Foundation’s flagship urban community development programme – UDAY is developing integrated solution on urban poverty through interventions in education, health, skill development and environment.
Uday works in all 11 cities in immediate neighbourhoods where HCL has a presence.
