NEW DELHI: HCL Foundation jointly with Aegon, a multinational life insurance, pensions and asset Management Company, inaugurated a Science Lab in Lions Club School at Guindy in Chennai for children from economically less privileged background.
This initiative is part of HCL Foundation’s community development and education projects. Enhancing the quality of learning and development in children and youth, through a number of education projects in India and abroad is the foremost objective of HCL Foundation.
The flood hit school will have a permanent infrastructure with respect to the Science Lab which will have all necessary equipments for the school which will enable the students to excel well in their education and will also be able to take examination in their own school. Lions Club of Guindy Labour Colony School aims to provide the full primary and secondary education curriculum for 420 underprivileged students from socially and economically backward communities.
HCL Aegon volunteers have played a key role in this initiative through regular weekend volunteering programs in teaching and mentoring, organizing health camps and re-doing of the school wall painting. HCL believes in working together with employees, customers, vendors and third parties for social change and partner with organizations that are committed to solving social issues and providing decisive support in the field of education.
HCL Foundation (HCLF), established in 2011, as a not-for-profit organization, seeks to engage with various stakeholders to bring about developmental changes in a holistic manner. The Foundation was formed on the belief that every HCL employee can make a difference and is funded through employee and organizational contributions. Community-based programs and activities are planned with a keen focus on sustainability and employee engagement. Over the years, the Foundation has expanded its focus and activities and plays a significant role in realizing the overall sustainable agenda of the company. HCL Foundation has committed Rs. 1 billion towards CSR initiatives over the next five years.
