MUMBAI: Under CSR initiative GAIL is giving specialized academic coaching to IIT aspirant students. Almost half of students who have been been receiving specialized academic coaching under GAIL’s CSR project have qualified in the IIT entrance examination this year.
The initiative, supported wholly by GAIL (India) and managed by Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL) picks up 100 students from Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh every year for grooming to be part of IITs.
In what is considered to be one of the toughest entrance examinations in the world, 95 out of 100 students qualified in IIT Mains this year and 50 out of these 95 cleared the JEE Advanced round. In this batch of 50 IIT JEE ( Advanced) qualifiers, 15 are from the general category, 14 are OBCs, 18 are SCs and 03 are STs candidates. Last year, 39 students from the batch of 100 students had made it through.

GAIL Utkarsh Super 100 is a 11-month residential programme that aims at coaching meritorious students from underprivileged sections of the society. The selected students are provided free food, accommodation and coaching under the academic guidance of Abhayanand, IPS to help them crack the IIT/JEE.
GAIL (India) also provides scholarship to all the students who have secured seats in the engineering colleges through the GAIL Charitable & Educational Trust. GAIL also helps the selected students for IIT/JEE with a scholarship of Rs 60,000 annually per student to help them meet their academics fees etc.
Students clearing other Competitive engineering examinations receive Rs 48,000 annually per student.This project has completed five successful batches at Kanpur.
