HYDERABAD (India CSR): Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has called on Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) to adopt more inclusive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies. Speaking to a gathering of CPSU leaders, the Governor emphasized the critical role of these organizations in promoting national development and social welfare.
CPSUs: Key Players in Social Impact
Governor Varma highlighted the importance of CPSUs in shaping a more equitable society through CSR programs, especially for underserved communities. He stressed that the focus should be on vulnerable and remote populations, such as tribal groups. “CPSUs are not just economic entities; they are fundamental pillars supporting the nation’s growth. By focusing on inclusive CSR, they can transform the lives of the underprivileged and contribute to a fairer India,” the Governor said.
Prioritizing Senior Citizens and Vulnerable Populations
The Governor also highlighted the need to address the growing challenges faced by senior citizens. “Many elderly individuals face loneliness, health problems, and lack of social support. CPSUs should tailor their CSR efforts to meet these specific needs, helping improve their quality of life,” he added. The Governor encouraged CPSUs to develop programs that foster community well-being while being sensitive to the needs of these groups.
Launch of Tuberculosis Seal Sale Campaign
In a separate event, Governor Varma inaugurated the 75th Tuberculosis Seal Sale Campaign, calling for heightened efforts to eliminate TB by 2025. He stressed the importance of community involvement, stating, “To achieve a TB-free India, we need active participation at every level, from local communities to national initiatives.”
Governor Varma’s call to action reinforces the growing emphasis on CSR activities that prioritize inclusivity, health, and social welfare, marking a step towards a more compassionate and responsible corporate landscape in India.
