BANGALURU: GKN Aerospace – India recently opened the GKN Aerospace Wing at Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled – a dedicated space for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities where they engage in activities that teach them daily living skills.
The Wing will be equipped with the necessary aids and appliances, and appropriate infrastructure where they will be provided with need-based therapy and training to enable and encourage independent living. More than 50 students with intellectual disabilities will benefit from the facility. The inauguration of the Wing was on 19th February 2015.
GKN Aerospace – India also supported the education of 25 children from Smile Foundation through their Mission Education programme. Mission Education is a national level programme of the Smile Foundation, which is committed to providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children.

During the early 1800s, GKN provided schooling for its workforce and their children and access to clean drinking water in the town of Merthyr Tydfil in Wales.
