BHUBANESWAR: As part of Livelihood Restoration Project (LRP), GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) organised an animal health camp in association with Veterinary Department, Dhenkanal.
GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, the CSR arm of GMR Group, employees invited government veterinary doctors to conduct the camp at Manpur village in Mangalpur Panchayat of Dhenkanal district.
Block Veterinary Officer and all staff of Odapada Block Veterinary Office and Sub-Divisional Veterinary Officer, Dhenkanal attended the camp.
The veterinary doctors treated 60 cows,130 goats & sheep in the camp. They provided deworming medicine, lever tonic, antibiotics, mineral mixtures as per requirement of the animals. Microscopic observation of stool carried out and accordingly treatment done. About 56 project affected families benefitted in the camp.
An awareness session facilitated by SDVO and BVO was conducted. They explained about various important diseases, symptoms and prevention as well as treatment. The camp was very useful for the villagers and GKEL will continue such camps in association with the Veterinary Department.
