Global Capability Centers shift CSR from compliance to governance-led ESG strategy
BENGALURU (India CSR): Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India are emerging as strategic drivers of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Moving beyond compliance-led initiatives, CSR within GCCs is increasingly governance-driven, aligned with global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) priorities, and integrated into enterprise-wide strategies.
Reflecting this shift, SoulAce convened the GCC CSR & Volunteering Summit in Bengaluru on Feb 11, 2026 , bringing together CSR, HR and ESG leaders to discuss how organisations can align India’s statutory CSR mandate with global sustainability goals while ensuring measurable community impact.
The first session, “Employee Volunteering in GCCs — From Participation Metrics to Meaningful Outcomes,” moderated by Anirudhya Gupta, Vice President, SoulAce, highlighted a major transformation in corporate volunteering models. Panelists from Marelli, Société Générale, Atlassian, Ingersoll Rand and Amadeus Labs India noted that volunteering programmes are moving beyond event-based activities toward structured initiatives embedded within long-term CSR strategies.
Organisations are increasingly integrating employee volunteering into flagship social programmes, enabling sustained engagement with nonprofit partners and communities. The focus is also shifting from participation metrics—such as volunteer hours—to outcome-based indicators, including improved institutional capacity of nonprofits and measurable benefits for beneficiaries.
A key trend discussed was the rise of skill-based volunteering, where professionals contribute expertise in technology, finance, analytics and operations to strengthen nonprofit organisations and create systemic impact. The growing influence of Gen Z employees, who seek purpose-driven engagement, is also encouraging companies to design flexible and meaningful volunteering frameworks.
The second session, “Aligning Local CSR with Global ESG Priorities in GCCs,” moderated by Adarsh Kataruka, Managing Director, SoulAce, examined how GCCs are addressing India’s development priorities such as education, gender equity, employability, water conservation and healthcare while remaining aligned with global ESG commitments.
Industry leaders emphasized that GCCs now operate at the intersection of local CSR compliance and global ESG accountability, making governance, impact measurement and structured reporting essential elements of CSR strategy.
