Company facilitates and paves way for the families to claim benefits under the Amrutum Vatsalya Yojana

India CSR News Network

MASAR: Finolex Industries Ltd, India’s largest PVC pipes manufacturer along with its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation stepped forward to help underprivileged families in Masar by facilitating the much needed documentation required for availing benefits under the Amrutum Vatsalya Yojana.

The activity was conducted in collaboration with the District Sarpanch and representatives from Mukhyamantri Amrutam Yojana from the region. A similar camp has been planned in Abhor district for 19– 20 July. Both these camps will empower almost 6000 families (4000 families- Masar and 2000 families- Abhor) in the region. Finolex industries Ltd helped the Yojna representatives to identify the families and register their names for health facilities.

Families who fall under this category can avail for cashless, quality medical and surgical treatment (five members of each family will be benefited once their name is registered in the scheme.) Currently only 11% of the families have access to a MAA card in these villages. The event was attended by Bharat Rohit, Sarpanch; Bhagwansingh Gohel, Deputy Sarpanch of Masar Village; Hitesh Vankar, Talati and 2 MAA card facilitators along with representatives of Finolex Industries Ltd.

Government of Gujarat had launched the Mukhyamantri Amrutam Vatsalya scheme in 2012 under which all families having an annual income Rs.1.20 lakh or below, could avail tertiary care treatment and cashless medical and surgical treatment for catastrophic illnesses related to: Cardiovascular diseases, Renal (Kidney) diseases, Neurological diseases, Burns, Poly-Trauma, Cancer (Malignancies), and Neo-natal diseases. While the policy is active and effective; illiteracy, limited access to information and lack of awareness pose a challenge for the implementation of these schemes.

The purpose of this initiative by Finolex Industries and Mukul Madhav Foundation was to spread awareness on the scheme and to empower citizens with documents required so that these families can avail of these healthcare benefits from registered hospitals. As a part of this documentation camp by the company, the representatives of Mukul Madhav Foundation visited all houses in the villages, collected basic data, informed citizens on the scheme and walked them through the whole process.

These representatives then got in touch with the Sarpanch and Health Ministry to set up a camp so that the citizens could register themselves and collect the required documents to avail of the scheme.

Speaking on this occasion, Ritu Chhabria, Director, Finolex Industries Ltd. & Managing Trustee, Mukul Madhav Foundation said, “We have received requests from many in these villages for health benefits. While we can treat some, it is difficult to find funds required to adopt a whole village. The Government of Gujarat already has pre-existent schemes, which if implemented successfully could benefit the masses immensely. The only challenge was to educate the villagers and to walk them through the process of documentation. We are happy that we have been successful in collaborating with all parties involved for this project. It is through such effective collaborations between government and private bodies that we can bring about concrete development around us.”

Local villagers at the camp in MasarBharat Rohit Sarpanch, Masar Village said, “I am happy that these families are getting means to avail the benefits under Mukhyamantri Amrutam Yojna. We wish and we hope that there is more interest from other private companies like Finolex Industries Ltd. to come forward and support the government and judiciary for such grass root causes.”
