NOIDA: The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, a sister organization of the World Economic Forum, in partnership with the Jubilant Bhartia Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of entries for the much coveted 2015 India ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ (SEOY) Awards.
The applicants are evaluated on key parameters of innovation, sustainability, reach and social impact. The applications will be accepted till May 31, 2015. Finalists will be selected following an intensive search and selection process, including expert reviews and site visits. The winner will be announced at a high-profile award event in New Delhi.
The India Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award, organized annually by Schwab Foundation and Jubilant Bhartia Foundation, celebrates leading social entrepreneurs and their ventures that implement innovative, practical and sustainable solutions to address poverty and the lack of basic services and resources in ‘Bottom of the Pyramid’ and ultra-poor communities (i.e. health, education, job creation, water, clean energy and access to information and technology).
Whether they are set up as for-profit entities, hybrid social ventures or not-for-profit organizations, their primary focus is transformational social change. Social entrepreneurs develop a revenue stream through the sale of products, services, fees or develop key partnerships to achieve sustainability.The award promotes social entrepreneurs in India by recognizing organizations that work to promote inclusive growth and contribute to bring change to society through their entrepreneurial vision.
The winners of the ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ India 2015 Awards will join the global community of Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurs, and will participate in the annual and regional meetings of the World Economic Forum, which provides unprecedented opportunities to engage with global decision makers from the public, corporate, media, academic, and civil society sectors.
SEOY has established itself as the prestigious event in India with a legacy of over 14 years. The Schwab Foundation has been selecting and recognizing social entrepreneurs globally since year 2001. The Jubilant Bhartia Foundation partnered with the Schwab Foundation in the year 2010 to conduct the Social Entrepreneur of the Year (SEOY) Awards in India.
2015 marks the sixth year of partnership between Schwab Foundation and Jubilant Bhartia Foundation to bring together country’s most coveted awards in Social Entrepreneurship.
Dr. H Sudarshan of Karuna Trust, the winner for 2014 India Social Entrepreneur of the Year, was awarded by Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, at a well-attended ceremony in New Delhi. The winners are selected by a prominent Jury consisting of eminent professionals from different walks of life.
Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship is a sister organization of the World Economic Forum. The Foundation provides unique regional and global platforms to promote social entrepreneurship as a key element to advancing societies and addressing social problems innovatively and effectively. It also fosters a peer global community of social entrepreneurs.
Jubilant Bhartia Foundation, established in 2007, is the not-for-profit organization of the Jubilant Bhartia Group. It focuses on conceptualizing and implementing the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives (CSR) for the Group. The Jubilant Bhartia Foundation’s activities include various community development work, healthcare programs, cultural and sports events, an environmental preservation initiative, vocational training, women empowerment and educational activities.
Start Up! is an angel investor, incubator and consultant to social entrepreneurs. It manages the candidate outreach, shortlisting, due diligence and jury presentation for the award on behalf of the Jubilant Bhartia Foundation.
