RAIPUR: Advanced Tailoring Training Cum Production Center for women and Bus facility for college going girls initiated by GMR Chhattisgarh Energy Ltd (GCEL) with the support from GMR operated Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has been inaugurated by Mr. SS Bajaj, Secretary& Commissioner, Department of Technical Education & Skill Development, Government of Chhattisgarh by cutting the ribbon.
GCEL COO Ravishanker S; GRK Babu, Chief Financial Officer-DIAL; Meena Raghunathan Director – community services – GMRVF and other distinguished guests has witnessed the inaugural ceremony during last week.
However as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, GCEL is implementing various community development initiatives in 12 villages of Tilda block in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh reaching out to an approx. population of 29000. Women empowerment is one of the focus areas of GCEL CSR activities and towards this, a tailoring center has been inaugurated at Raikheda village to train the local women in advanced tailoring skills and the center has been equipped with 16 advanced tailoring machines.
This will enable the women not only training of stitching of fabrics but also to earn a sustained livelihood through taking up orders for production. Furthermore, a bus service facility has been inaugurated to support the girls from project villages to reach to their college at Tilda which is 20 kms away.
GCEL has provided the temporary transport facility since 2010, which has been availed by 120 girls so far and 75 of them have already completed their graduation. Now this permanent bus facility will enable more number of girls to complete their higher studies paving way for their bright future.
