NEW DELHI: Dalmia Bharat Foundation, the CSR arm of Dalmia Bharat Group, has scaled up its CSR initiatives in Sitapur region of Uttar Pradesh, beginning a new project aimed at soil and water conservation, renewable energy, and skills training, company said in a statement.
Run by the Dalmia Bharat Foundation, the project aims to benefit hundreds of local villages.
As part of the project, the company desilted a number of lakes, provided 3500 solar lanterns and home-lighting systems, and built more than 1000 toilets. The company also started three bovine artificial insemination centres in partnership with BAIF Development Research Foundation to support the development of the dairy industry.
Vishal Bhardwaj, Chief Operating Offices of the Dalmia Bharat Foundation said, “Our CSR activities are strategically done for the benefits and to achieve national development goals, for example, employment, maintainability, national asset preservation, and others.”
“Through these efforts, we aim for an overall growth and improvement in the living conditions in Uttar Pradesh in a sustainable manner.”, he added.
It is worth mentioning that Dalmia Bharat Group is a leader in cement market, as well as operating sugar and refinery businesses. According to a recent report from CDP, it is also among the greenest cement companies in the world with the lowest carbon footprint of 13 cement majors. It has a current operating capacity of 26 million TPA, making it the fourth largest cement firm.
