CHAKAN, Pune (Maharashtra) (India CSR): The Samarth-Jyoti Campus, a Suman Nirmal Minda Foundation initiative in Mahalunge-Ingale, Chakan, Pune, was abuzz with pride and celebration on June 4, 2025, as it hosted a grand Valedictory Function to honor 91 students who had successfully completed vocational training courses in Cutting & Tailoring and Beauty Culture. The event, a vibrant showcase of skill, determination, and community spirit, highlighted the transformative impact of Samarth-Jyoti’s initiatives in fostering self-reliance and women’s empowerment.

A Milestone in Skill Development

The Valedictory Function marked the culmination of rigorous training programs designed to equip students with practical skills for financial independence. Organized by Samarth-Jyoti Sanstha, the event served as a platform to felicitate graduates, showcase their achievements, and reinforce the institution’s commitment to rural skill development. The presence of distinguished dignitaries and community leaders underscored the significance of this milestone in empowering individuals, particularly women, to build brighter futures.

Empowering Women Through Skill

The Cutting & Tailoring and Beauty Culture courses offered by Samarth-Jyoti have been instrumental in empowering women by providing them with practical, market-relevant skills that open doors to economic independence and entrepreneurship. The Cutting & Tailoring course equips women with the ability to design, measure, and stitch garments, enabling them to start small businesses or secure employment in the thriving textile industry.

The Beauty Culture course, in a similar vein, imparts professional techniques in makeup, hairstyling, and skincare, empowering women to establish their own beauty parlors or offer freelance services. These programs not only foster financial self-reliance but also build confidence, promote social mobility, and encourage leadership—particularly in rural communities where such opportunities are scarce. By mastering these skills, graduates are breaking traditional barriers, contributing to their families’ incomes, and inspiring others in their communities.
