VISAKHAPATNAM: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) Visakhapatnam has announced that Mr PC Parakh, former secretary to Government of India, had visited Arunodaya Special School in Ukkunagaram and appreciated the initiatives of the School Management in taking care of differently abled children.
The Arunodaya Special School was constructed by VSP under Corporate Social Responsibility program. Mr Parakh lauded VSP for taking up such initiatives under CSR program. Mr Parakh shown keen interest to know the activities of the school and interacted with the students. Later, he planted saplings in the school premises to mark the occasion.
Mr R Shankar GM (CSR) of VSP apprised Mr Parakh about the initiatives taken up by VSP under CSR for the cause of differently abled children. RINL, VSP has contributed 63 artificial limbs in Sompeta in Srikakulam district and 84 artificial limbs in Srikakulam to the needy tribal community through Gurudeva Charitable Trust under CSR program.
Free Eye Camp Conducted
The Corporate Social Responsibility department of VSP in association with Sankar Foundation conducted a free eye screening camp at the rehabilitation colony of Pedagantyada Community Welfare Centre on 27 October 2011.
Around 250 patients were treated for eye related problems and distributed medicines free of cost. VSP officials and Mr D Adinarayana, recognized union leader etc participated.
