Bhoomi Pujan held for Rs. 380-crore G+11-storey Multispecialty Hospital Block and Bone Marrow Transplant Centre at ACTREC
MUMBAI (India CSR): In a major boost to India’s healthcare infrastructure, the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has partnered with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) to develop a landmark G+11-storey Multispecialty Hospital Block and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Centre at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Navi Mumbai.
The facility is projected to cater to 1.3 lakh OPD patients annually and conduct over 600 life-saving BMT procedures every year. Construction will be carried out by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in EPC mode, with operations expected to begin by July 2027.
The Rs. 380 crore project, with a built-up area of 2.4 lakh square feet, is being developed in partnership with the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), an autonomous institution under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), and is set to become the largest BMT facility in the country and one of the biggest in South Asia.
Expected to commence operations by July 2027, the facility will serve around 1.3 lakh out-patient department (OPD) patients annually and conduct over 600 life-saving BMT procedures every year, offering treatments free or at highly subsidised rates to underprivileged patients, including children.
The construction will be executed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode, following the receipt of environmental clearance on September 11 and the commencement certificate from the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) on October 1.

The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony, held in the presence of dignitaries from NSE and TMC, marks a significant step in strengthening India’s healthcare infrastructure, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising cancer burden.
NSE, through its CSR arm NSE Foundation, signed an MoU with TMC in March 2023 after board approval, aiming to address comorbidities in cancer patients and expand access to advanced care at ACTREC, which already provides highly subsidised treatment to hundreds of patients daily from across the country.
The new block will function as a dedicated OPD unit for the entire ACTREC campus, where three more buildings are planned, and will offer general and super-specialty services for co-morbid conditions like cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, renal and gastroenterological issues.
“This collaboration fills a critical gap in specialised care for cancer patients with comorbidities, who often have to seek treatment elsewhere,” said Dr Sudeep Gupta, Director of TMC, adding that the 60-bed BMT unit will make ACTREC one of the largest such centres in South Asia, offering complex procedures at subsidised costs amid thousands of patients awaiting treatment.
Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, Director of ACTREC, highlighted TMC’s role in delivering advanced, affordable care to patients from remote areas, noting that the facility will address the urgent need for accessible BMT services.

“BMT is a complex, expensive procedure vital for thousands, including children, waiting for a cure. This unit will transform outcomes by making it subsidised and scalable,” said Dr Navin Khattry, Deputy Director and BMT specialist at ACTREC.
Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of NSE, described the initiative as an extension of the exchange’s transformative ethos beyond finance.
“NSE is honoured to partner with Tata Memorial Centre in this landmark effort to support cancer patients and contribute to India’s fight against cancer. For over 30 years, we’ve driven economic growth; today, we’re channeling that spirit into healthcare, impacting thousands of lives annually,” Chauhan said.
The project underscores NSE’s commitment to societal impact, aligning with its vision of being a trusted institution fostering health, wealth creation and economic progress.
