HYDERABAD (India CSR): Malabar Group, one of India’s most prominent business conglomerates and the parent company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, has announced its Educational Scholarships for girl students in Telangana for the 2024-2025 academic year. The initiative, part of the Group’s flagship Malabar Scholarship Programme, is designed to remove financial barriers to education and empower young women with the resources needed to pursue their academic dreams.

The announcement was made at a special event at The Telangana State IAS Officers Institute, Somajiguda, Hyderabad, in the presence of Smt. D. Anasuya Seethakka Garu, Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, Women & Child Welfare, Government of Telangana, alongside senior leadership from Malabar Group.

This year, the scholarship program has earmarked a Rs 16 crore budget to support over 21,000 girl students across India, with ₹3.14 crore allocated specifically for Telangana, benefiting more than 3,900 students from 116 colleges in the state.

Transforming Lives Through Education

Education is a key driver of change, and Malabar Group is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not stand in the way of a girl’s future. Speaking about the initiative, MP Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group, shared:

“Education is the most powerful tool to bring positive change to the world. Our scholarship program reflects Malabar Group’s deep-rooted belief that education creates opportunities and transforms lives. By investing in girls’ education, we are not just supporting individuals but also strengthening families and entire communities. This initiative is a step toward a more equitable and progressive society.”

Since its inception, Malabar Group has been dedicated to inclusive growth, channeling 5% of its annual profits into CSR activities, covering education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and poverty alleviation.

Malabar National Scholarship Programme: A Legacy of Impact

Launched in 2007, the Malabar National Scholarship Programme has already provided Rs 60 crore in financial aid to more than 95,000 girl students across India. In Telangana alone, over Rs 13.74 crore has been allocated to support more than 22,400 students since the initiative began.

By focusing on girls’ education, Malabar Group aims to create long-term social impact, equipping young women with knowledge, confidence, and opportunities that will shape their futures.

Beyond Education: Tackling Hunger and Social Welfare

In addition to education, Malabar Group runs several large-scale social responsibility initiatives, including:

1. Hunger-Free World Project

This initiative provides nutritious meals to underprivileged communities across India and internationally.

  • 60,000 food packets distributed daily in 81 cities across 17 Indian states
  • 10,000 meals provided daily to school students in Zambia
  • Future goal: Expanding to serve 100,000 people daily at 200 centers

This program is implemented in partnership with Thanal, a voluntary organization actively engaged in social service.

2. Grandma Home Project: Shelter for Destitute Women

This project provides free, fully equipped accommodation for homeless women, offering them security and care. Currently operational in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, Malabar Group plans to expand to:

  • Major cities in Kerala
  • Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai

3. Supporting Dropout Students Through Micro-Learning Centers

Malabar Group has established 581 micro-learning centers across 12 states, helping students who have dropped out of school regain access to education. To date, the initiative has supported over 25,800 students.

A Broader Commitment to Social Upliftment

In addition to education and hunger relief, Malabar Group actively supports:

  • Medical aid for underprivileged communities
  • Housing construction for families in need
  • Financial assistance for marriages of women from economically weaker backgrounds

To date, Malabar Group has invested over Rs 282.29 crore in CSR projects, reflecting its deep commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.

A Future Rooted in Social Impact

Malabar Group’s continued investment in education, healthcare, and community well-being underscores its belief that true success lies in collective growth. As the Group expands its business footprint, it remains dedicated to creating opportunities for the underprivileged, ensuring that every initiative leaves a lasting impact on society.
