CSR: Kotak Education Foundation Gives 1,000 Scholarships to Mumbai Students

Kotak Karma, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) identity of the Kotak Mahindra Group, continues to drive impactful initiatives.

MUMBAI, India (India CSR): In a significant boost to educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged students in Mumbai, the Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), a CSR wing of the Kotak Mahindra Group, has unveiled the Kotak Junior Scholarship program. This initiative is set to award 1,000 scholarships to meritorious students who have completed the 10th standard, facilitating their further education in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Kotak Karma, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) identity of the Kotak Mahindra Group, continues to drive impactful initiatives like the Kotak Junior Scholarship program, reinforcing its commitment to fostering education and professional development among India’s youth.

Transforming Lives through Education

The scholarship program is tailored for students from SSC, CBSE, and ICSE boards, covering a substantial period of 21 months. Each scholarship includes a monthly stipend of Rs. 3,500, amounting to a total of Rs. 500, designed to support students as they pursue their 11th and 12th grades.

However, the benefits of the Kotak Junior Scholarship extend beyond mere financial aid. The program is structured to provide a comprehensive support system including one-to-one mentoring, career guidance, assistance in preparing for entrance exams, and various exposure visits to broaden students’ horizons.

A Decade of Empowerment

KEF has a longstanding history of empowering students, having supported over 3,600 scholars and aiding more than 800 alumni to become successful professionals in esteemed companies and institutions.

Jayasree Ramesh, Executive Committee Member and Director of Education Programme and Scholarship at Kotak Education Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s dedication. “For the past 17 years, KEF has been pivotal in providing opportunities and access to quality education, aiming to uplift students and youth from underserved communities,” she stated. “With the Kotak Junior Scholarship, we are committed to developing strong and qualified professionals who can uplift their families out of poverty.”

Eligibility and Application

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have scored above 85% in their SSC, CBSE, or ICSE examinations and secured admission to Class 11 in any college within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Additionally, the annual family income of the applicant must be below Rs. 3,20,000.
