CSR : JSPL Foundation announces 3rd Edition of  Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman

NEW DELHI: Overwhelmed by the response from various individuals and organisations across the country, JSPL Foundation, the CSR arm of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has launched 3rd Edition ofRashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman 2019. Like the previous year, the Foundation will honour 20 exemplary Change Makers from across India for their societal achievements.

The Call for Entries is open and the foundation invites Individuals & Organizations from across India to come forward and apply for the Awards. The Foundation also encourages people to nominate such discerning individuals & organizations to be worthy recipients of the Awards. The application and nomination forms are available on www.jsplfoundation.co.in and are open till February 28, 2019. Selected individuals will be honoured in an Award Ceremony to be held at New Delhi.

An honorarium of Rupees 1 Lakh each will be awarded to 20 Change Makers (10 Individuals & 10 Organizations) to encourage and support them in augmenting their efforts. The awards will be conferred across 10 categories viz. Agriculture / Rural Development, Environment, Education, Innovation/Technology, Art & Culture, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood, Health, Sports, Women Empowerment and Public Service / Social Service.

Shallu Jindal, President, JSPL Foundation, opines – “During last two editions of Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman, we found several persons and organisations making excellent contribution to social development in spite of several hardships. the third edition is an attempt to continue this effort of identify and honour more such individusla and organisations from the grassroots, who rarely  receive recognition for their societal contributions. We invite participation from various such organisaitons and individuals to come forward and share their Untold Stories of Courage, which will inspire others. The Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman is celebration of the indomitable human spirit that strives to bring about a change in our society.

JSPL Foundation instituted the ‘Swayamsiddh Samman’ in 2015 to identify, reward and nurture social innovators and change makers from the grass-roots in India. The award was instituted to honour the unsung heroes who overcame adversities in their lives to create their own unique identity, displaying exemplary courage, commitment and dedication towards their cause. In its Inaugural Edition, the National level Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman elicited an overwhelming response with 358 entries from across the country. Out of these, 203 entries were shortlisted based on laid down parameters. 25 individuals and organisations across the country from different walks of life were felicitated with the Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman.  In the second edition of the Awards, JSPL Foundation has introduced the Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Jeevan Samman for life long inspirational and selfless service. The Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman was awarded to 12 Individuals & 9 Organizations, from across India for their societal contribution in the 11 categories.  Today, these awardees have become ‘Ambassadors of Change’ and are guiding others to achieve their dreams, thus forming a human chain.

OP Jindal Global University is the Knowledge Partner for the awards and will be responsible for earmarking the parameters and finalizing the awardees with the help of four regional juries and one national jury. The call for entries is currently underway and will close on 28th February 2019.

Entries received from across India will be assimilated into four Zones – North, East, West & South. The regional assessment of the entries will be done by four regional juries to evaluate entries on the basis of identified parameters and shortlist deserving Individuals & Organizations from the respective regions. The shortlisted entries from each region will then be placed before an eminent National Jury to select the Awardess, who will be honored in the Award Presentation to be held in New Delhi.

The Foundation focuses its efforts in key areas of Health, Education, Vocational Training, Women Empowerment, Livelihood, Livestock Care, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Youth and Sports and Infrastructure Development among others.
