ANGUL (India CSR): On a day filled with reverence and compassion, Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) honored the 20th Punyatithi of its founder, Om Prakash Jindal, with an inspiring array of community-driven initiatives at its Angul plant. From a massive blood donation drive that saw 751 units collected to the donation of a mortuary vehicle for dignified farewells, the event reflected the enduring legacy of a man affectionately known as “Bauji.” Employees, families, and local residents came together in a powerful display of unity and service, echoing Jindal’s belief that true progress lies in uplifting humanity.

A Day of Giving: Mega Blood Donation Drive
Community Unites to Save Lives
The centerpiece of the commemoration was a Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Camp, organized by JSP’s CSR wing, the Jindal Foundation, in partnership with the Odisha Blood Centre and local health units in Angul, Athmallik, and Talcher. The turnout was extraordinary—751 units of blood were donated by employees, their families, and community members. This remarkable effort not only set a high benchmark for voluntary participation but also underscored JSP’s deep-rooted commitment to addressing critical healthcare needs. Blood donation has become an annual tradition at JSP, symbolizing the company’s dedication to life-saving causes and community welfare.

Dignity in Farewell: Mukti Rath Donation
Supporting Families in Times of Loss
In a poignant gesture, the Jindal Foundation gifted a Mukti Rath—a specialized mortuary vehicle—to the Angul District Health Administration. This vehicle, handed over by JSP’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Dilip Sinha, to Dr. Shibananda Mohanty, DDM & PHO Angul, will be stationed at the Angul District Hospital. It addresses a long-standing need for respectful transportation of the deceased, offering solace to grieving families. This act of compassion reflects Shri Jindal’s ethos of serving society beyond mere business achievements, ensuring dignity even in moments of sorrow.

Beyond Blood: Holistic Community Support
Rations and Solidarity for the Underprivileged
The day’s initiatives extended further with the Jindal Foundation distributing dry ration supplies to local social welfare organizations. This effort aimed to bolster food security for vulnerable populations in the region. Meanwhile, the Jindal Mahila Samiti, led by Seema Malhan and Anita Mittal, played a pivotal role in mobilizing support and participation. Their involvement highlighted the inclusive spirit of JSP’s community outreach, bringing together diverse groups to honor Bauji’s vision of collective well-being.
A Legacy That Inspires: Shri O.P. Jindal’s Journey
From Humble Beginnings to Nation-Building
Om Prakash Jindal’s life story remains a beacon of inspiration. Born into a modest farming family, he transformed India’s industrial landscape as a pioneering steel magnate. His accolades include the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, alongside a distinguished political career as a Haryana MLA, MP, and Minister of Power. Today, JSP and the broader OP Jindal Group carry forward his mission of self-reliance and progress. Employees at JSP’s Bhubaneswar office also paid floral tributes, with Prashant Hota, President and Head (Group CSR), emphasizing Bauji’s foundational role in fostering industry-led social prosperity and the “Make in India” movement.

Spiritual Beginnings and Heartfelt Tributes
Honoring Tradition and Values
The day began with the Akhand Ram Charita Manas Puja at the Devbhoomi Temple in Jindal Nagar, setting a serene tone for the observances. Senior leaders, including Pankaj Malhan, Executive Director (Angul Unit), Mr. Damodar Mittal, Executive Director (Projects), and Mr. Dilip Sinha, joined employees and families in offering floral tributes. This blend of spirituality and service encapsulated the essence of Shri Jindal’s philosophy—where progress and compassion go hand in hand.
