Hindustan Zinc’s Zawar Group of Mines, under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety, hosted a one-day technical workshop on Ground control of Underground Mines in Udaipur region. During the workshop, a comprehensive discussion was held by the speakers of various mines about the current challenges, methodologies and possible redressal techniques that can be adopted to name a few. Total 80 participants participated in the workshop and shared their viewpoints and presented their views.
The workshop was presided over by Director General of Mines Safety, Udaipur Zone – B.R. Dayasagar in the presence of Ram Murari, CEO – IBU, Zawar Group of Mines. Addressing the workshop he said, “It is very important to follow all the rules and regulations in the underground mines to ensure mine life and from safety point. Along with this, the safety standards should also be reviewed from time to time by scientific institutions.”
Praveen Sharma, Head – Central of Excellence Mining, Vekesh Chittora – Operation Head Cluster A participated in the workshop along with several other mining engineers, geologists, mine workers, operators were present in the programme. Chief Scientist of Central Mining and Fuel Research Institute, Dhanbad, Dr. John Louis highlighted various scientific aspects of underground mines and deliberated on Stope design and systematic support rule in underground mines. In the workshop, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety- Niranjan Kumar, Vishal Goyal, Rajneesh Sigar and Mallesh Porundla presented their views as well.
