Udaipur (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc-lead-silver producer, has won the ‘People First HR Excellence Award 2022′. The company has won two “Champion” awards under the category – Leading Practices in Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives and Leading Practices in Talent Management. The award was presented to Hindustan Zinc for its overall journey in changing and implementing HR Processes by leveraging workforce diversity and talent management. The platforms also recognized HR Leaders in various domains – Roohi Sherwani, Mamta Sharma and Satyjyot Kaur as HR Future Leaders while Anoop Kumar and Deepak Gakhreja were recognized as Leading Minds in HR and People First Leader Award respectively.
As part of the ‘Diversity & Inclusion’ Lens, the company’s roadmap includes declaring the Equal Employment Opportunity policy and the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policy. Hindustan Zinc has revamped its recruitment strategy anchoring diversity in all functions and ensuring the same is reflected in business partner workforce. The company recently inducted the first Transgender employee, deployed in a front-end role as a Lab Technician at its unit and is committed towards gender parity across all levels and functions.

Leveraging Diversity & Inclusion they have initiatives like V-Lead which focuses on developing women professionals in CXO roles. In addition, they have Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) where like-minded people can discuss concerns and learn openly with each other.
Under Talent Management, the company is strengthening its talent pipeline and creating a culture of high performance. They are leveraging on attraction & acquisition, thus promoting young talent, capability building, driving diversity and performance management.
