LANJIGARH: In its endeavour to strengthen and provide better Early Childhood Care and Education Center facilities in rural areas, Vedanta’s Lanjigarh unit joined hands with the Government to lay the foundation stone of Nandghar at Kendubadi village near Lanjigarh, today.
Nandghar is an extension of the existing Anganwadi initiative institutionalized as a service delivery unit established under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) by the Government of India.
The Nandghar will use state-of-the-art construction technology and has added benefits of round-the-clock electricity through solar panels, e-learning in a stimulating environment, clean drinking water through RO purifiers and primary healthcare through mobile medical units. It will run as children’s education and health centre in the morning and train women in vocational skills in the second half.
Present during the occasion were Basudev Nayak – Block Development Officer Lanjigarh, Mamita Majhi – Sarpanch, Jagannathpur GP, Sulochana Bag – Samiti member and Ms. Jyotschnarani Mishra – ICDS Supervisor along with Ajay Kumar Dixit, CEO, Alumina & Power, Vedanta Limited, Phill Campbell, Director Technology, Jalaj Malpani, CFO, K A Chowdhury, Head Projects, Sanjeev Kumar, Chief Transformation Officer, Harmeet Sehra, Chief Community Development Officer and other senior officials of Vedanta.
Basudev Nayak appreciated Vedanta for bringing the initiative to Lanjigarh for the benefit the local communities. He informed the senior citizens and villagers present from Kendubadi, Jagannathpur and associated NGO partners about various benefits of having Nandghar in the village.
Ajay Kumar Dixit reiterated Vedanta’s commitment towards inclusive development of the region and of the nation at large. Setting up of Nandghar will be a revolutionary measure to eradicate malnutrition in children and create women entrepreneurs in the region, he added.
