Ponda, Goa (India CSR): Diageo India (United Spirits Ltd.), a leading alco-bev company, launched two Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects in Ponda, Goa, partnering with an NGO. These initiatives, inaugurated with local leaders present, aim to benefit 85 students and faculty by improving access to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities at two government primary schools.
At the Government Primary School, Bethoda, the project includes renovating facilities and upgrading water and sanitation systems. At Government Primary School, Mestwada, efforts focus on infrastructure upgrades and a new drinking water station. These enhancements promise a better learning environment for students, the company informed.
Navdeep Singh Mehram, VP of CSR & Sustainability at Diageo India, emphasized, “These WASH projects reflect our ‘Spirit of Progress’ ESG goals, ensuring sustainable water access and community well-being.” The initiative aligns with Diageo’s ongoing efforts across eight states to promote water accessibility and hygiene.
The company said that these initiatives align with the company’s broader sustainability and community engagement goals, under its Spirit of Progress ESG action plan.
