VADODARA: Cosmo Foundation, a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the Cosmo Films is actively involved in promoting quality education on computer operation, IT and digital skills in Karjan block of Vadodara District in partnership with local Government schools.
It provides computer teachers, curriculum and takes care of teachers training and assessment of students as well as exposure to IT sector viz. Digital Transactions, E commerce ,social media.
Annual award giving function was organized at Patel J.K. Sarvajanik High school, village Kandari. In the year 2016-17 from 16 rural schools 2300 students participated in Computer Literacy Program. Three rounds of competitive exams were conducted by Navrachna University, Vadodara. Five best performer students were awarded laptops and trophy and nine students were awarded Consolation Prize comprised of motivational books.
The chief guest of this event was Maheshwar Sahu (IAS), Chair Person, Gujarat CSR Authority and Trustee of the Cosmo Foundation. He encouraged students to focus on building skills, appreciated collaborative efforts of local schools and Cosmo Foundation and such genuine commitment of CSR of the Cosmo Films.
Arvind bhai Patel, Member of the Gujarat secondary education board also graced the function and appreciated that mere donation does not work Cosmo Foundation provides knowledge, skills and builds aspirations of the students.
600 students, parents, Principals and teachers from 25 Government schools, sarpanchs, block magistrate were present. On this occasion Cosmo Foundation felicitated three rural women who serves as Balmitra with Cosmo Foundation, have made outstanding contribution to bring transformation in their community and examples of women’s empowerment.

It was a great help to strengthen my studies as, I have done 11th, 12th science and at present pursuing my nursing course.”, Jinita Patel, ex – Computer Award winner, village Kandari.
This activity was started in April 2010, when Ashok Jaipuria Chairman and Managing Director of the Cosmo Films, while talking to the local community, announced computer award for the best performer in computer literacy. Since then every year best performers are awarded Laptops. The aim is to motivate the students for learning computers, enhance their interest in mainstream education and pursue higher education as well as to make them techno savvy.
Cosmo Foundation – the CSR initiative of Cosmo Films Limited, was initiated in the year 2008 with the vision of assisting underprivileged children and youths to realize their potential. CF has three major interventions namely Computer Literacy Programme (CLP), Cosmo Gyan Vihar Kendra (CGVK) and Basic English Programme (BEP), operational in radius of 20 kms from the Cosmo Films plant at Navi Jithardi in Karjan block of Vadodara district.
The Computer Literacy Programme has evolved as the flagship programme of Cosmo Foundation over the years. It has been designed to provide the school children with the operating knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems with a view to build their functional skills.
It has proved to be of high utility value to the students in their studies, broadened their outlook of the environment around them and has led to a dynamic change in their aspirations from becoming farmers to computer engineers.
It has significantly helped in increase of self-esteem among students and a feeling of pride in parents. There have been instances where the students after obtaining computer education from Cosmo Foundation, have pursued further studies in computer and have taken it up as their source of livelihood.
