RAICHUR ( India CSR): Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) organised separate camps to distribute ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India)-supplied aids and assistive devices worth Rs 92.5 Lakhs, sponsored by BEL under CSR, at Raichur and Yadgiri, two aspirational districts of Karnataka.

Over 941 disabled people from 11 taluks of the two districts were provided with 1,725 assistive aids and appliances of various categories, including tricycles, motorised tricycles, wheel chairs, CP chairs, crutches, walking sticks, rolators, smart canes, mobile phones, Braille kits for visually impaired, Braille canes, ADL kit, hearing aids, MSIED kits for the intellectually impaired and artificial limbs and calipers.

The identification and registration of beneficiaries were conducted by ALIMCO in co-ordination with the district administrations.

In addition to the distribution of assistive aids, BEL also handed over 7 BLS (Basic Life Support) ambulances to the district hospitals of Yadgiri.

BEL has undertaken developmental work in Yadgiri and carried out interventions in the areas of health care, education, rural development, and sanitation in 18 villages of three Gram Panchayats in the district.

The programmes at Raichur and Yadgiri were inaugurated by BEL’s General Manager (HR) Mohan RP and presided over by various district officials.

The function held at the University of Agricultural Sciences Auditorium, Raichur, saw 554 disabled people (Divyangjan) receive support kits, while 387 Divyangjan were distributed aids and assistive devices at the ceremony held at Hosalli Road, Yadgiri.

The camps were conducted to provide support to disabled individuals who often struggle with limited access to healthcare and assistive devices. These aids and appliances can significantly improve the quality of life for disabled individuals, allowing them to be more independent and self-sufficient.

Through its CSR initiatives, BEL has been actively involved in providing aid and assistance to the underprivileged and disabled sections of society. The distribution of assistive devices to disabled individuals is just one of the many ways in which the company has been working to support social welfare programs and promote inclusive growth.

The events were well-received by the beneficiaries, who expressed their gratitude for the support provided by BEL and ALIMCO. The district officials also lauded the efforts of BEL in improving the lives of the disabled population in their respective districts.

Overall, the distribution of aids and assistive devices by BEL is a significant step towards building a more inclusive and accessible society for disabled individuals. By providing these individuals with the necessary support, BEL is helping them overcome their limitations and live life to the fullest.
