BHOPAL: To mark the 150th year of Gandhi Jayanti, Axis Bank said will support towards Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) efforts to make Bhopal a clean and green city.
This would also help in retaining its title of the cleanest capital of the country under the Swachh Bharat Mission. As a part of its CSR initiative, the Bank will provide 85 electric bikes to Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) for conducting and monitoring solid waste management operations smoothly and more efficiently.
Amitabh Chaudhry, MD & CEO, Axis Bank also appraised Kamal Nath, Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh about the various initiatives Axis Bank is conducting across the State.
The initiative was flagged off by Sanjay Dubey, IAS, Principal Secretary Urban Development & Housing, Administrator – Capital Project, Managing Director-Metro Rail Company Limited, Govt, of Madhya Pradesh, B. Vijay Datta, IAS, Commissioner, Bhopal Municipal Corporation and Deepak Singh, IAS, CEO Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Limited in presence of Amitabh Chaudhry, MD&CEO, Axis Bank.
The Bank will deploy 85 Hero Electric NYXHS500 model bikes, one each for the 85 BMC wards. These bikes will be used by BMC officers and health officers for conducting on-ground activities and daily monitoring of SWM work across the city. They can now efficiently navigate through the city roads and by-lanes, specifically the more densely-populated areas.

Through this initiative, the BMC will strengthen its SWM monitoring work. The project will be monitored by Additional Commissioners of BMC, who will supervise the ‘Darogas’ and AHOs responsible for the cleanliness and SWM management of the city comprising 85 wards covering approx. 20 lac citizens.
In addition to this, the Bank has recently provided 200 Android POS Machines to BMC, to be used for spot fines against littering or other solid waste management related breaches.
