PUNJAB (India CSR): Ambuja Cements, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, as part of its CSR initiative is bringing quality healthcare closer to rural households in Punjab through regular screening and community-based care for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Bathinda.Â
In Mehma Sawai village, these efforts made a life-changing difference for community members like Harjinder Singh, a 45-year-old farmer. After recovering from dengue, he was diagnosed with dangerously high blood sugar levels. Previously dependent on distant health centres for routine checkups, Harjinder struggled to stay consistent with his care.
When Ambuja Cements organized health camps as part of its CSR initiative and regular monitoring within the village, his access to healthcare support improved significantly. With the help of trained health workers, he began tracking his sugar levels, received subsidised medicines, and adopted a healthier routine focused on diet and physical activity. His wife also became an active participant through awareness sessions and home-based guidance.
Harjinder’s sugar levels have now stabilised and his reliance on medication has reduced. His journey is one among many that reflects how Ambuja Cements is creating lasting health impact through early intervention, accessible care, and consistent community engagement.
