Alstom, a leading global entity in the realm of smart and sustainable mobility, announced the launch of its prestigious Young Engineering Graduate Program (YEGP) for the year 2023. The key aim of the initiative is to recruit a whopping 700 young graduate engineers from India within the upcoming two months, marking this as the most extensive intake in the country under this program.
Commitment to Diversity and Expansion of YEGP
Since its inception in 2015, YEGP has been a pivotal part of Alstom’s recruitment strategy in India, designed to nurture fresh engineering talent to cater to both national and international business demands. The new recruitment drive focuses on gender and regional diversity, with 58% of the hires being women engineers.
Moreover, the selection spans 54 universities across 26 states, from the far-reaching Northeastern states to Gujarat and from Jammu & Kashmir to Kerala, maintaining Alstom’s promise of regional inclusivity.
Alstom’s Vision for India and Global Impact
Reflecting on this ambitious initiative, Vinod Varghese, Human Resources Director India, said, “We are delighted to be the top choice for a record number of young engineering graduates in the rapidly growing rail mobility and infrastructure industry.
This underscores our dedication to fostering a future-ready and global workforce in India.” He added that Alstom’s rich legacy and global impact in rail technologies would provide new recruits with extensive industrial and engineering knowledge, enhancing their global relevance.
In-depth Training and Role Allocation
The 14-day YEGP focuses on delivering an immersive and engaging experience to all participants. They will gain an in-depth understanding of Alstom’s business, operations, and functions through interactions with the leadership team.
After structured induction, technical, functional, and on-the-job training, the Graduate Engineer Trainees and Post Graduate Trainees will undertake various roles like Application Engineers, Train Control Engineer, Train Design Engineer, Testing & Commissioning Engineer, and more.
They will be stationed across Alstom’s six manufacturing facilities and four engineering centers that cater to both domestic and international markets.
Alstom’s Track Record and Learning Culture
Since the inception of the YEGP, over 1800 engineering graduates have been brought on board in collaboration with leading technical/engineering colleges and universities across India.
These professionals hail from diverse engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, Industrial, Mechatronics, and others.
Alstom has also consistently proven its commitment towards creating an excellent workplace, having been certified as a Top Employer in the mobility sector in India for the third consecutive year. Alstom places a strong emphasis on internal learning culture and is a global leader in terms of learning hours, offering an online learning management system, the Alstom University, where employees can learn at their own pace.
