‘Aamchi Shala Adarsha Shala’ making Government schools more competitive

MUMBAI: ‘Aamchi Shala Adarsha Shala’, a motivation driven education initiative by Adani Foundation provides modern-day solutions to revive the Government primary and secondary schools of rural Maharashtra who are losing their strength to private schools through a competition-based format, the foundation informed.

The competitive spirit on which the programme thrives motivates the schools to do better than the others, effectively spreading awareness about the importance of quality education and mobilizing the community. With active involvement of teachers, SMC, Gram Panchayat members and Foundation team, finally Foundation was able to improve overall education experience for Government schools in Tiroda and Gondia of Maharashtra.

Through constant evaluation, Foundation ensures that objectives of fulfilling 41 parameters under 11 heads on which the competition is judged are met by the participating schools, and this in turn results in an overall ground impact, a statement said.

Tiroda block

Tiroda block is a backward region of Maharasthra that ranks slow on social indicators and students studying in government schools are commonly from poor economic background and marginalized communities. Looking at the challenges in the community, it was evident that Government schools are the only opportunity for rural students to get the right quality education. Looking at the push of students towards private schools, Foundation decided to get involved through ‘Aamchi Shala Adarsha Shala’ and make Government schools more competitive.

Participation in competitive examinations

The Foundation’s intervention in the block resulted in 5 folds increase concerning the average number of students shifting from private to Government schools. The average number of student participation in competitive examinations has increased by more than 75% compared to 2015-16. Considering the impact, the Government decided to adopt the project in all Government Schools in Gondia district.

Infrastructure Support

Adani Foundation focuses on providing inclusive and quality education to meritorious children from all social and economic backgrounds. Adani Foundation is providing infrastructure support like furniture, books, laboratory equipments etc. to government schools in Tiroda. E-learning kits are provided to all the government schools with the objective of making the youth of the region tech savvy and comfortable to use digital systems, foundation informed.

Career planning workshops

Adani Foundation also organises career planning workshops for youth in Tiroda. To ensure equal opportunities for all children, Adani Foundation selects talented children from rural areas and provides them with quality education through a residential school in Tiroda, free of cost.

The initiative recently recognised at the Corporate Social Responsibility Summit by UBS Forums.
