NEW DELHI: The Second Edition of six days Certificate Course on Social Innovation and Social Enterprise concluded at Design Innovation Center, University of Delhi on November 9, 2019.
The course was conceived as an outcome of ongoing UK India Education & Research Initiative (UKIERI) research project, led by Dr Roopinder Oberoi of Kirori Mal College (University of Delhi) and Dr Jamie Halsall from University of Huddersfield (UK).
The conduct of this unique course was a joint initiative by Kirori Mal College and Design Innovation Centre (both from University of Delhi). Dr Roopinder Oberoi was also the course convener.
The course offered the students a unique opportunity to experience a cross-disciplinary approach to view social innovation and entrepreneurship. This approach will assist them to apply their learnings in analyzing complex social and economic problems and developing innovative solutions to address these and make a tangible positive impact on society.
It aimed to look beyond the silos of subject domains. The course was conducted by leading academicians, social innovators, think tanks, policy makers, law experts and impact investors who engaged with the students and shared their diverse perspectives.
The course included three panel discussions and twenty one sessions delivered respectively by Prof Bibhu Biswal (Coordinator, DIC, Delhi University), Dr Jamie Halsall &, Dr Mike Snowden (University of Huddersfield, UK), Satish Jha, (Mentor, Entrepreneurship, Investments, Fund Raising, Greater Boston) Amit Lahri (Jindal Global University), Prabhat Labh (CEO at Grameen Foundation India & Co-Founder and Managing Director, Grameen Impact Ventures), Prof Subhasis Ray (XMI B), Prof Avinash Kumar (MDI, Gurugram), Prof Madhulika Banerjee (University of Delhi), Prof Alok Pandey (Director, IMS Ghaziabad), Rusen Kumar (Founder, India CSR Network), Prof Rahul Kumar & Prof Shalini Singh (BIMTEC), Dr Amita V Joseph (Director, Business & Community Foundation), Abhinav Vats (Innovator and Impact Investor), Prof Hemant Kushwaha (JNU), Manpreet (Director India KPMG), Samanwit Biswal (Smart Power India – The Rockefeller Foundation), Shobhit Mathur (Dhwani Rural Information Systems) and finally, Dr. Deepak Pandit (Academic Practitioner Entrepreneur).
