UTTRAKHAND : Industry academia interface is a key priority for Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) nationally as well as in Uttarakhand. Given this CII and UTU collaborated and jointly organized the first of its kind Placement Week in Uttarakhand. Prof V K Jain, Vice-Chancellor Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) said that an initiative has been taken by UTU, jointly with CII, for organizing pool campus placement drive for the students of all engineering & management colleges (Government, Constituent and Private) and students of pharmacy institutions at UTU Dehradun from 16th Feb 2015 to 21st Feb 2015. This initiative provided a common platform to all the students of the University for enhancing their placements. More than 500 students participated, he added.
Elaborating on the rationale for the Placement Week, Mr Manu Kochhar Chairman CII Uttarakhand State Office said the objective of the activity was to facilitate job opportunities for the youth of Uttarakhand. The participating industries have also appreciated the initiative as it provided them with an opportunity to reach out to the vast talent pool from Uttarakhand on a single platform.
Placement process was conducted for over 100 vacancies by Eastern Healthcare, E-Durables, e-Wave Networks Pvt. Ltd, Forace Polymers Pvt Ltd, Honeywell Electrical Devices and Systems India Limited, I Can India Pvt Ltd, Indo German Brakes Pvt Ltd, Jubilant Generics Limited, Liveweek Business, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, Sandhar Technologies Limited, Sara Sae Pvt Ltd, Shivam Autotech Ltd, Sterlite Technologies Ltd and Windlas Biotech Limited. The Placement Week was a huge success with positive feedback from students, colleges and companies.
