Dhamra : On the occasion of Children’s Day on Friday, Dhamra Port organized a familiarization trip to the port for students of several periphery schools.
Nearly 350 students from 8 different schools of Dhamra and its nearby panchayats visited the port and participated in different programmes organized for them. In different groups the children were taken into the port area in a company bus in which they went around the port jetty area, material handling area and stackyard. The port officials explained them about the functioning of various units and the mechanized cargo handling operations of port.
A colourful function was also organized in the port premises wherein there was song and dance performance by students of various schools from Bhadrak and the DPCL DAV Public School. The Bhadrak District Amateur Taekwondo Association members gave a stage performance exhibiting their skills.
Five child prodigies of Bhadrak district were felicitated by Dhamra Port on the occasion. While Satyajit Das (12) of Chandbali, Mausumi Roul (13) of Charampa and Lopamudra Giri (11) of Karanapali areas were felicitated for their talent in dance, Barsarani Das (9) of Chandbali was felicitated for award winning ‘Jhoti’ performance and Satrupa Das (12) of Charampa area was felicitated for song. The function was attended by large number of students, teachers, guardians and senior officials of the port.
