NEW DELHI: On the eve of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM) 2013, Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group of Companies, organized a special felicitation ceremony today. These children have addressed social issues in their communities and have transformed lives of people in and around their villages. Brand Ambassador of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and a renowned actor Bipasha Basu interacted with students of Satya Bharti School and appreciated their efforts in bringing a change in the community during their participation in the 6th Airtel Delhi Half Marathon.

bharti foundationBharti Foundation has corporate organizations and individuals running for the empowerment of students, teachers and communities. In the last five years of the event, the Foundation has raised awareness about the significance of quality education in the villages of India. Since 2008, it has successfully brought together more than 4,000 employees across 59 corporate houses, more than 200 students and over 1000 individuals, raising resources for its schools and education of underprivileged children.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Vijay Chadda, CEO of Bharti Foundation said, “Satya Bharti School Program is empowering rural India with quality education. Our students act as agents of change in their communities, our teachers have become role models for the rural youth, specially girls and also we have been able to bring transformation in the communities where we operate.”

Bharti Foundation and the Satya Bharti School Program
Bharti Foundation was set up in 2000 as the philanthropic arm of the Bharti Group of Companies to help bridge the education divide between urban and rural India. Towards achieving this intent, the Foundation launched its flagship initiative, the Satya Bharti School Program in 2006. The program delivers quality education, free of cost, to underprivileged children in the villages of India, focusing primarily on the girl child, and is helping transform students into well educated, confident, employable and socially responsible citizens of tomorrow. Currently, over 38,000 children are enrolled in 254 Satya Bharti Schools (including 186 primary, 63 elementary and five senior secondary schools) across six Indian states. The intent of the program is to develop scalable, sustainable and replicable components of quality education to make a large scale impact on the education sector as a whole.
