GREATER NOIDA (India CSR): In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering experiential learning and grassroots development, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) recently concluded its “Rural Immersion Programme 2025.” The programme, organized in collaboration with U-Turn4Nature, an NGO dedicated to sustainable rural development, saw 534 students, including international participants, visit 16 villages to gain first-hand exposure to rural life and its multifaceted challenges.
A Transformative Learning Experience
The programme was designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications. Students delved into critical themes such as “Health & Nutrition,” “Education,” “Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH),” “Agriculture & Livestock,” and “Livelihood & Entrepreneurship.” By identifying hurdles in these areas, participants explored potential interventions to drive long-term rural development.
Recognition of Innovative Solutions
The culmination of the programme, “Reflection Day,” was graced by Chief Guests Manish Kumar Verma, District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, and Sita Srivastava, Income Tax Commissioner. The event also saw the participation of 40 rural women and industry leaders from HR and CSR domains. Three student teams were recognized for their innovative, community-driven solutions. Samauddinpur Group 9 secured the top award, followed by Kalonda Group 1 and Beel Akbarpur Group 13.
A Commitment to Holistic Education
Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director of BIMTECH, emphasized the programme’s alignment with the institute’s mission to blend academics with real-world applications. “This initiative not only empowers students to become socially responsible leaders but also strengthens collaborations with rural development organizations,” she said.
Impact Beyond the Classroom
Post-programme, the findings and recommendations will be shared with NGOs, policy experts, and industry forums for potential implementation. Additionally, a reflection session with village leaders, including Sarpanch and Self-Help Group (SHG) members, is planned to ensure community engagement.
A Legacy of Excellence
Inspired by its founders, Late Basant Kumar Birla and Sarala Birla, BIMTECH continues to pioneer innovative programmes like PGDM, PGDM-International Business, and PGDM-Retail Management. Recently accredited by AACSB, the institute has cemented its position among the world’s top business schools, supported by a robust alumni network of over 8,000 professionals.
Through initiatives like the Rural Immersion Programme, BIMTECH is not only shaping future leaders but also contributing to sustainable rural development, one village at a time.
