GREATER NOIDA: Guided by mission, vision and legacy of promoters, Greater Noida based BIMTECH, a premier management institute, is always concerned about social issues and developing business professionals having empathy for society.
BIMTECH has included Responsible Business as a core module in all its management courses. One of the innovative components of this module is Community Immersion Programme.
Under this programme, students are required to go to the villages and observe the ground situation and collect information on various issues including access and impact of social welfare schemes of the Government and also Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of the corporates.
The objective is to expose students to real situation in villages and sensitise them to the effect that social responsibility is also important for any business operations.
In July and August 2017, about 250 students visited 11 villages where CSR activities have been undertaken by corporates like NTPC Limited, SRF Foundation, Maurti Suzuki and also one village adopted under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY) and where BIMTECH is also implementing a project Protsahan Chiraiya for helping rural girls by imparting Life Skill Education, Basic English Education and some livelihood projects.
BIMTECH with the help of Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library Development, has established libraries BIMTECH-Pustakalay in different jails of Uttar Pradesh. As of now five big libraries are operational i.e.in District Jail of Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh and Meerut.
Students also made an impressionistic study about impact of CSR initiatives of the corporates and prograame for school girls being implemented by BIMTECH.
Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH says, “The institute is moving towards pedagogical interventions which connects today’s youth to the community issues. Going to a village, NGO, Jail, Slum will be now a part of our curriculum.”
“It was direly needed for us to connect with our neighbouring community. Preparations started months back. Centre for CSR & Sustainability of the institute designed and implemented this module to create awareness and inculcate nation building values among today’s youth.”, he said.
