The project has trained over 390 resource persons as master trainers who cascaded the training to more than 8,500teachers from 1,100 Government Schools in Jammu
JAMMU (India CSR): Bharti Foundation in collaboration with The Directorate of School Education, Jammu, launched the project on ‘Life Skill Development among Students through House System’ this academic year under its Satya Bharti Quality Support Program – At Scale. An extensive training was initiated in August 2022 for more than 390 master trainers who cascaded the training to 8500 teachers from 1100 Government Schools in Jammu for building important life skills in students.
Project in Government Schools
In the recent engagement, school complex heads were given an orientation on the project facilitation in Government schools through master trainers. In addition, master trainers were felicitated on Saturday, 11th February 2023, for successfully completing teacher training in their jurisdiction. Furthermore, teachers and best performing districts were also felicitated on the successful initiation of the project in Government Schools, benefitting more than 2 lakh students while ensuring their holistic development.
Imparting 10 critical life skills
During the felicitation ceremony, Dr. Ravi Shanker Sharma, (JKAS) Director, School Education, Jammu said, “Our partnership with Bharti Foundation has been since 2016. In the last year we have introduced new initiatives wherein they are helping in imparting 10 critical life skills among students through trained resource persons and teachers. This initiative is energizing existing House Systems in schools through a systemic approach. Through this initiative, we hope to improve the potential of our students by creating healthy competition while enabling them to become good citizens.”

Speaking on the successful initiation of the project, Mamta Saikia, CEO-Bharti Foundation said, “Bharti Foundation has been working in the field of education in rural India for the past 20 years. It is our belief that life skills among students is an important area to work on and can be best delivered to the students when integrated with various school activities. National Education Policy 2020 also lays emphasis on building important life skills in students such as critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, digital skills, etc. It is a matter of pride that this initiative has been successful in government schools in Jammu. Thanking the Directorate of Education, Jammu, and all those who are involved in this ambitious project to support Bharti Foundation in creating a meaningful impact.”
Life Skills Development among students through House System
The project, ‘Life Skills Development among students through House System,’ provides opportunities for children in high and higher secondary schools in Jammu to build important life skills in 10 critical areas such as problem solving, stress management, interpersonal relationship skill, coping with emotions, empathy, critical thinking, decision making, creative thinking, effective communication and self-awareness. This project will help children equip with required 21st century skills for them to become confident and caring individuals, ready to manage everyday challenges and excel in their future workplace while balancing their personal and professional relationships.
