NEW DELHI (India CSR): In a business environment where stakeholders increasingly look beyond quarterly profits, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a practical measure of how a company shares its success with society. Beardsell Limited’s CSR performance for the financial year ended March 31, 2025 (FY 2024–25) reflects that shift clearly. The company not only met its statutory CSR obligation—it exceeded it—directing funds toward education-led empowerment, essential healthcare support, and a critical drinking-water intervention in South India.

As per disclosures in its CSR spending report, Beardsell Limited recorded a total CSR expenditure of Rs 21.27 Lakhs during FY 2024–25. This is higher than its statutory requirement of Rs 18.24 Lakhs, underscoring a community-first approach that aims to deliver measurable benefits for people in need, especially in economically backward communities across Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Exceeding the Financial Mandate Under the Companies Act

CSR spending requirements in India are guided by Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, which requires eligible companies to spend at least two percent of the average net profits of the preceding three financial years on CSR activities.

For FY 2024–25, Beardsell Limited reported an average net profit of Rs 9,11,76,000 (Rs 9.12 Crore). Based on the mandated two percent calculation, the prescribed CSR obligation for the year stood at Rs 18,24,000 (Rs 18.24 Lakhs).

However, Beardsell’s actual CSR deployment reached Rs 21,27,445 (Rs 21.27 Lakhs). That means the company spent an additional Rs 3,03,445 (Rs 3.03 Lakhs) beyond the minimum requirement. Notably, the report confirms no unspent CSR amount for the year—an important indicator that CSR planning and project implementation were executed efficiently within the reporting period. The excess amount of Rs 3.03 Lakhs is also available for set-off against subsequent CSR obligations, as per applicable CSR rules.

Beardsell Limited

CSR Strategy Built Around Social Need and Local Impact

Beardsell Limited’s CSR framework is structured around practical community needs, implemented through eligible trusts and not-for-profit organisations with valid CSR registrations. The approach indicates a preference for targeted interventions rather than scattered allocations—ensuring funds reach beneficiaries through accountable, registered institutions.

The company’s CSR priorities during FY 2024–25 were guided by three broad pillars:

Community Welfare for Vulnerable Groups

CSR initiatives were designed to deliver maximum benefit to underserved populations, including people facing structural and economic disadvantages.

Education and Social Development

A strong portion of CSR spending focused on education, training, and awareness—aimed particularly at economically backward communities to improve long-term opportunity and social mobility.

Health, Medical Assistance, and Environmental Support

The CSR program also included healthcare support and a sanitation-linked rural development effort, addressing real, everyday needs where gaps remain most visible.

The company further clarified that an impact assessment was not applicable during the reporting year because its average CSR obligation did not cross the regulatory threshold that triggers mandatory impact assessment requirements.

Education as the Largest CSR Focus Area in FY 2024–25

A key highlight of Beardsell’s CSR spending is its sizable support for education-centric institutions and charitable trusts—especially in Telangana and Tamil Nadu. The company routed the majority of its CSR budget through multiple implementing agencies, supporting projects classified as “other than ongoing projects,” indicating immediate deployment and utilisation within the year.

Major education-related contributions included:

Supporting Institutional Education in Telangana

Beardsell allocated Rs 8,25,000 (Rs 8.25 Lakhs) to The Hyderabad Public School Society (CSR00014135) in Hyderabad, Telangana. This was one of the largest single allocations in the CSR portfolio, reflecting a priority on strengthening education infrastructure and learning access.

Another contribution of Rs 2,65,000 (Rs 2.65 Lakhs) was made to The Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills Charitable Trust (CSR00003064) for education-linked initiatives in Hyderabad.

To further support education-driven social development in Telangana, SRI KEERTHANA FOUNDATION (CSR00046901) received Rs 1,20,000 (Rs 1.20 Lakhs) in Hyderabad.

Educational Trust Support in Tamil Nadu

Beardsell also extended support to Tamil Nadu-based trusts through structured donations of Rs 3,00,000 (Rs 3.00 Lakhs) each:

  • POORNODHAYA TRUST (CSR00033084) in Kulakudi, Tamil Nadu received Rs 3.00 Lakhs.
  • Rotary Club of Madras Charitable Trust (CSR00000997) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu received Rs 3.00 Lakhs.

Together, these education allocations show a clear intent to back credible institutional partners that can deliver structured interventions—whether through schooling support, learning infrastructure, or community-based education assistance.

Strengthening Healthcare Support and Community Sanitation

Healthcare formed the second major pillar of Beardsell Limited’s CSR program during FY 2024–25. The company’s report indicates both donation-based healthcare support and a direct infrastructure-linked CSR intervention aimed at improving public health outcomes.

Support for Cancer Care

Beardsell contributed Rs 1,00,000 (Rs 1.00 Lakh) to SMT. NANDAMURI BASAVA TARAKA RAMA RAO MEMORIAL CANCER FOUNDATION (CSR00007803), Hyderabad, Telangana. The donation falls within the healthcare category and supports specialised medical care for serious illnesses, where treatment costs can often push families into long-term distress.

Direct Drinking Water Infrastructure in Tamil Nadu

Beyond donations, the company reported a direct CSR activity involving the supply of pipes for a drinking water project in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. Categorised under Health and Sanitation / Rural Development, this intervention involved direct expenditure of Rs 2,17,445 (Rs 2.17 Lakhs).

This is a particularly human-centered CSR touchpoint because access to potable drinking water influences multiple outcomes—health, hygiene, school attendance, productivity, and household wellbeing. Direct infrastructure support such as this often creates benefits that last well beyond the financial year.

Governance, Oversight, and Zero Administrative Overheads

CSR spending gains credibility when it is backed by strong governance. Beardsell Limited’s CSR activities were overseen by a dedicated CSR Committee comprising four directors, indicating senior-level supervision and accountability.

CSR Committee Composition (FY 2025)

  • Anumolu Jayashree – Whole-time Director & Chairperson
  • Dr. Gurram Jagannatha Reddy – Independent Director
  • Jeyapaul Singh – Non-executive Director
  • Amrith Anumolu – Executive Director

The committee met two times during the year, and the report indicates full attendance—signalling active oversight.

A standout disclosure is that Beardsell reported NIL administrative overheads for CSR activities. This means the company did not claim internal administrative costs against CSR spending, ensuring that the largest possible share of funds flowed directly to projects and beneficiaries.

What Beardsell’s CSR Spending Signals for 2025 and Beyond

With Rs 21.27 Lakhs deployed in FY 2024–25—above the mandated Rs 18.24 Lakhs—Beardsell Limited positions its CSR as more than a compliance line-item. The emphasis on education, targeted healthcare support, and drinking water infrastructure suggests a purposeful, needs-based CSR model that prioritises tangible outcomes.

Equally important is the operational discipline shown through zero unspent CSR and zero administrative overheads—two markers that stakeholders increasingly consider when assessing CSR authenticity.

As India’s CSR ecosystem matures, companies that combine statutory compliance with focused partnerships and on-ground relevance tend to deliver the most sustained impact. Beardsell Limited’s FY 2024–25 CSR choices—rooted in education access, medical support, and essential water infrastructure—indicate that the company is aligning social investment with real community priorities, particularly in Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

In a time when development is measured not only by what companies build, but also by whom they uplift, Beardsell’s CSR surplus stands as a practical example of how corporate resources can be directed toward improving everyday lives—one school, one healthcare initiative, and one drinking water project at a time.
