BALCO organizes leadership workshop to groom high-potential women employees

Balconagar: Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer, recently organized a workshop for its female leadership. The objective behind organizing the workshop was to upskill the female employees in line with BALCO’s best people practices approach. During the training session, the participants were edified about the modus operandi of developing futuristic projects specific to their domains and were provided with insightful inputs by the panelists to work towards increasing BALCO’s contribution in creating a sustainable future.

The workshop provided an excellent platform to the participants to take up leadership roles in the organization and they were encouraged to share their disruptive and innovative ideas regarding the positive contribution of the organization in society. Following the theme of ‘Green Growth’, growth in consistence with environment conservation, the function was organized in an eco friendly manner as it adhered to the ‘Zero use of Plastic’ policy.

Speaking on BALCO’s vision of nurturing talents and protecting the environment, Abhijit Pati, CEO and Director, BALCO said, “Diversity in workplace introduces fresh perspectives and ideas which further enhances the processes of problem solving and decision making. We are committed to nurture diverse culture in our workplace and ensure growth and development of the organization.We are also dedicatedly driving the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) dimensions of sustainability for building a greener tomorrow and,therefore, are actively undertaking initiatives to sensitize our employees towards Vedanta’s ESG goals.”

The special guest of the workshop was Meenakshi Bala Verma, AGM & HOD Maintenance and Planning, NTPC Korba. Sharing her views, Ms. Verma, said, “It is commendable that BALCO is taking strong steps for their female team members in order to motivate them for taking leadership roles in the organization. Our women professionals are equally empowered to contribute towards the development of the nation at large. Such workshops help in aiding the females in their journey towards being good and competent leaders.”

BALCO is continuously ensuring to engage and connect the female leaders with all the members of management through regular communication meets. BALCO is all set to be future ready in creating an inclusive environment for women workforce, in line with the same vision BALCO has rolled out a drive to offer higher roles to its recognized female employees. The company regularly organizes communication meets with Industry leaders and implement Vedanta’s one of its kind mentorship programs like V Lead for its women workforce for new insights and better grooming. BALCO has been advocating of diverse work culture and with its many new age learning & growth opportunities, it is creating a strong platform to empower women to shatter the glass ceilings.

Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) is India’s iconic aluminium producer. It is owned 49% by the Government of India and 51% by Vedanta Limited. BALCO is part of Vedanta’s Aluminium Business, a division of Vedanta Limited, which is India’s largest manufacturer of aluminium. BALCO operates a 0.57 million tonne per annum aluminium smelter in Korba, Chhattisgarh. It is also a leader in value-added aluminium products that find critical applications in core industries. With its world-class smelter and power plants, the company fulfills its mission of spurring emerging applications of aluminium as the ‘Metal of the Future’ for a greener tomorrow.
