MUMBAI: Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) has been honoured with India CSR Community Initiative Awards (India CSR Awards) for Project Jalgram- ‘Towards Sustainable Livelihood’ by India CSR, world’s popular CSR Newswire.
This has been awarded for its Project Jalgram-‘Towards Sustainable Livelihood’ in the category ‘Agriculture Development through CSR.

The award was presented in a glittering award ceremony held in Bangalore and was received on behalf of Balco by BK Sriwastwa, Head-Community Relations and Ashish Ranjan, Head- CSR of Balco, Korba from the hands of Chief Guest of the function Shri T. B. Jayachandra, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Higher Education, Govt. of Karnataka in the presence of Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, DG & CEO, India Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA); Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, Trustee and CEO, Wockhardt Foundation; Ramdas Mansing Mane, CMD, Mane Group of Companies; Sanjay Katkar, Joint MD, Quick Heal Technologies Limited; Sudarshan Suchi, Program Head, Reliance Foundation; Rusen Kumar, Founder and Managing Editor, India CSR and Dr Rana Singh, Co-Founder and CEO, India CSR.
Project Jalgram
288 acres of land have been covered with perennial irrigation by help of check dams, bunds, etc. This has helped farmers get a second crop and there by leading to an increase in the income of farmers. It has also reduced the dependency on rainfall.
