Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF), the philanthropic arm of the world’s leading natural resources conglomerate Vedanta has released its second social impact report for the year 2022.
In its latest report, Vedanta Limited revealed that it has spent INR 399 crore in FY 2021-22 under its corporate social responsibility projects operating across 12 states in India. The Anil Agarwal Foundation touched the lives of nearly 4.6 million people in more than 1250 villages with various initiatives around health, education, community welfare and development and sports.
Through its key initiatives like Project Nand Ghar, Balco Medical Centre, Swastha Gaon Abhiyaan (SGA), and The Animal Care Organisation (TACO), the foundation aims to scale up its welfare initiatives and align its journey with the vision of “Transforming for Good”.
The report elaborates on the marquee projects along with the Corporate Social Responsibility programmes run under various business units across 17 locations nationwide. Notably, the company lent a helping hand in India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by providing quality medical assistance, vaccination, PPE kits and other necessary assistance.
Vedanta Resources Chairman, Anil Agarwal, shared the vision behind Vedanta’s giveback and said, “We treat CSR not as a mandate but as the very core of the existence of a business – to share the wealth for the prosperity of our communities. Vedanta’s ethos is deeply embedded in promoting the development of the communities it operates in and has always found its purpose in giving back to society by positively impacting lives through healthcare, education, skilling, and livelihood. With the mission to transform the lives of women and children through the project Nand Ghar, we have set a goal of developing 25,000 Nand Ghars in Rajasthan in the coming years. Furthermore, the Anil Agarwal Foundation has a progressive roadmap in place for the implementation of a sustainable and inclusive growth model.”
Moving ahead, the foundation is committed to continuing with its initiative of empowering communities, transforming lives and facilitating nation-building through sustainable and inclusive growth. It has pledged to spend INR 5000 crore over the next five years for social development and has laid down the socio-economic development roadmap that would benefit about 7.5 million community members.

Over the years, Vedanta has built many impactful CSR programs in India and is considered one of the most socially responsible corporations in the country. In the last financial year, the company had spent INR. 331 crores on various CSR activities with a prime focus on pandemic relief works, children’s well-being and education, women empowerment, health care, sustainable agriculture & animal welfare, market-linked skilling of youth, environment protection & restoration, development of community infrastructure among others.
