Angel One Investing in Futures Through Comprehensive CSR Programmes 2025

MUMBAI (India CSR): The foundation of Angel One’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment lies within the regulatory framework of the Companies Act, 2013, which mandates eligible companies to spend a minimum of 2% of their average net profits of the immediately preceding three financial years on CSR activities. For the financial year ended March 31, 2025 (FY25), the gross amount required to be spent by the Company was Rs 23.609 crore. Demonstrating its commitment, Angel One spent Rs 24.017 crore on CSR activities during FY25, exceeding the statutory requirement. This represents a significant increase from the Rs 16.040 crore spent in the previous financial year, FY24. The entire amount spent on CSR during FY25 was in cash and not used for the construction or acquisition of any asset. Angel One discloses the details of its CSR policy and activities in its Annual Report and on its website, ensuring transparency.

Angel One’s CSR strategy is firmly anchored in the objective of Promoting Livelihood Enhancement Projects by skill development of youth across India. The company strongly believes that building a better future involves equipping young people with the necessary skills for today’s job market. Through its training and development programmes, Angel One aims to unlock the potential of underprivileged youth, enhancing their employability and preparing them for meaningful and sustainable careers. These initiatives focus on providing accessible, practical training aligned with emerging workforce needs, thereby bridging the skill gap and enabling young adults to thrive in a rapidly evolving professional landscape.

To effectively implement these programmes, Angel One collaborates with a network of eight credible Not-For-Profit Partner Organisations. These partners include:

  • Raah Foundation
  • NIIT Foundation
  • Sambhav Foundation
  • Aajeevika Bureau Trust
  • Kherwadi Social Welfare Association (running Yuva Parivartan)
  • Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India (TRRAIN, running PANKH & TRRAINHer Ascent Livelihood Program)
  • Bright Future (New Resolution India)
  • Anudip Foundation for Social Welfare (running DIYA)

These collaborations facilitate programmes in various states across India, including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Telangana, Delhi NCR, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

The skill development courses offered through these partnerships cover a wide array of practical, industry-relevant skills. Examples of courses include:

Training is offered in BFSI, BPO, Tally, Advanced Computers, Hospitality, EV Service Technician (Green Skills), Sales & Retail, Data Entry, Accounts, GDA, Digital Marketing, Life Skills, English, Personality Development, GST, Computer Skills, Public Speaking, and 21st-century skills.

IT back-office operations

The programmes are specifically designed to empower underprivileged youth. The sources highlight that 100% of beneficiaries from the listed projects were from vulnerable and marginalized groups. This includes focusing on individuals such as Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and young women from marginalized communities, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and breaking barriers to inclusion. Angel One estimates that over 34,000 individuals benefited from its CSR activities in FY25.

A crucial component of Angel One’s CSR framework is the Impact Assessment of its projects. During FY25, an impact evaluation study was conducted by Think through Consulting, an independent agency. The study aimed to assess the effectiveness and impact of Angel One’s CSR interventions, specifically focusing on skill development and the promotion of digital and financial literacy among youth. The assessment methodology used the OECD-DAC criteria and viewed the interventions through the lens of gender, diversity, and intersectionality inclusion.

The impact assessment revealed significant and measurable positive outcomes. Key findings indicated that the programmes enhanced the employability of youth by equipping them with job-relevant skills, leading many to secure formal employment. A notable improvement in financial literacy was observed, with participants demonstrating a better understanding of budgeting, savings, banking systems, and digital transactions, resulting in more informed and responsible financial decisions. The initiatives also successfully bridged the digital divide, building foundational digital skills among youth from underserved communities. Furthermore, the programmes promoted social inclusion by integrating marginalized youth into mainstream economic opportunities and created sustainable livelihood pathways. Some participants even emerged as peer educators or influencers, helping to spread awareness within their communities.

CSR Governance

Governance and oversight of the CSR initiatives are handled by the CSR Committee of the Board of Directors. The committee is chaired by Dinesh Thakkar and includes Kalyan Prasath and Mr. Krishna Iyer as members. The CSR Committee met twice during FY25. Its responsibilities include formulating and recommending the CSR policy and annual action plan, monitoring the policy, recommending the annual budget, identifying ongoing projects, undertaking impact assessments, ensuring implementation of activities, and recommending the adoption of the CSR report to the Board. Additionally, the ESG Committee provides guidance and oversight for embedding ESG aspects, including corporate social responsibility, into the business strategy.

Angel One’s engagement with communities is primarily facilitated through these collaborations with credible non-profit organizations. The CSR team works closely with communities in specified areas, employing comprehensive mechanisms, including regular Due Diligence checks and consistent communication with NGO partners, to ensure effectiveness and address any irregularities or issues raised by beneficiaries.
