Chennai – Allcargo Logistics Ltd has come out with a solution to resolve the ongoing water crisis in Chennai at its the local Container Freight Station (CFS), the company release said.
The company has constructed a borewell and connected it to the RO plant at the CFS, with an installed dispensing water system. The safety and maintenance team at the Chennai CFS is maintaining the system.
The move has helped in meeting the water supply and conservation needs of the people at the CFS. The new system is providing around 100,000 ltr water per day, the release said. Chennai Is facing its worst water crisis in years.
The team is also harvesting rain water to recharge the ground. The rain water is being harvested in four pits of 5 million ltr per annum capacity.
The new system is providing clean drinking water with total dissolved solids (TDS) levels at 70mg/ltr, much below the prescribed limits of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) of 500 mg/litre and the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) level of 300 mg/ltr, the release said.
Allcargo also organises programs in the drought-hit regions of Maharashtra under its ‘RAHAT’ initiative to make villages self-reliant in terms of their water needs.
