MUMBAI: ACC Limited, manufacturer of cement and ready mixed concrete, has appointed Neeraj Akhoury as Managing Director and CEO designate with the board ‘reluctantly’ accepting the resignation of incumbent Harish Badami who will demir office on February 4.
To start with, Akhoury has been inducted as an Additional Director on the board with immediate effect, said ACC in a statement.
The board has also reluctantly acceded to the request of Badami to step down as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director since he wishes to pursue other career opportunities. Accordingly, the board has accepted his resignation and relieve him from February 4, 2017, it added.
To ensure smooth transition, Badami has volunteered to advise and support the new Managing Director and he will accordingly continue his association with the company till June 30, 2017.
Badami assumed office as CEO & MD of ACC on August 13, 2014.
A steel and cement veteran, Akhoury is presently the CEO of Lafarge Surma Cement and Country representative of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh. He started his career with Tata Steel in 1993 and joined the LafargeHolcim Group in India in 1999. In 2011, he moved to Nigeria as CEO & MD of Lafarge AshakaCem PLC, and then was appointed as Strategy and Business Development Director for Middle East & Africa at the Lafarge headquarters in Paris.
